Comfortable furnishings and the crackle of fire invite
guests to linger in this plush outdoor space.
aye and Steve Tidwell
envisioned a luxurious
outdoor life in the
backyard of their new
Rogers, Arkansas,
home. But—like many new homes—
construction left the landscape bare.
So the Tidwells added a pergola and
a stained-concrete patio, with a custom
brick fireplace as the centerpiece.
Helped by designer Daniel Keeley, they
furnished the space as nicely as an
indoor room, complete with drapes, a
rug, and ample seating.
The project transformed the
Tidwells’ backyard into the sanctuary
they imagined—a place to gather around
the hearth and visit with family and
friends while sipping wine and roasting
marshmallows with their grandkids.
